Abstract

The fox tricksters, the Huldra and Kitsune of Scandinavia and Japan, respectively, articulate a phenomenological symbolism through their animal and shapeshifting natures. Using this folkloric language we learn from them, the connection between the human mind across the east and west is suddenly apparent, and we can use this way of thinking to illuminate everything from the Western canon of literature and the dreams we have at night.
